Reused forever.

In 2019 we set out to remove the single use bag from the weekly shop. Seven years on, the weekly shop carries more bags than it ever has, and every one of them is reusable. These are our results.

Our mission

A bag should be bought once and carried for a lifetime.

The JevBag charter, clause one, unamended since 2019

JevBag exists to retire the disposable bag. Every tote we stitch is cut from recycled cotton, rated by an independent laboratory for ten thousand journeys, and built to be the last bag a household will ever need to buy.

Our members own an average of fourteen.

Impact at a glance

Every figure below is measured against our 2019 baseline, when the founder counted forty one carrier bags under one kitchen sink and decided that something had to change.

Section three

Our story

  1. 2019

    Forty one bags under a sink

    Our founder opened a cupboard door and a compressed wall of carrier bags came out at him. He counted them on the kitchen floor. The following morning he bought one good tote so that it could never happen again.

  2. 2021

    The tote worked

    Friends asked where he had got it, so we made ten thousand more. Each one was sold with a printed promise that it would replace a lifetime of plastic. We have honoured that promise on every unit shipped.

  3. 2023

    Certified for ten thousand journeys

    An independent laboratory loaded a JevBag with four kilograms of tinned goods and carried it up a staircase until the technician asked to stop. Sales tripled on the strength of that finding. Members began reporting household counts in the low teens.

  4. 2026

    Sixty three and rising

    The cupboard under that original sink now holds sixty three bags. Not one of them is plastic. We regard this as progress and have no plans to slow down.

Section four

Our commitments

  • Every tote is cut from recycled cotton and rated for ten thousand journeys.
  • We will never manufacture, sell, or hand over a single use bag.
  • Members reaching fifty totes are sent a larger tote to keep them in.
  • Our shipping packaging is a tote.

Notes on methodology

Figures cover the reporting period to March 2026 and are self certified. Household bag counts are drawn from the member survey, which asks how many reusable bags are currently in the home and is typically answered from memory, in a kitchen, in front of a drawer that will not close.

Bags stored inside other bags are counted once. Bags kept in the car are recorded separately and are not included in the totals above. Bags acquired free with a purchase of something else are counted at full value, because they were still made.
